Part 1

Part 2 Final

Ohno POV

“OK, that’s pretty much the run down of our News Zero schedules.”

I looked at the piece of paper on the table where Sho wrote out the order of events on his News Zero day. Sho’s handwritings, coming from my hands, pretty amazing, I thought.

Even after the idea of we being stuck in each other’s body for the day sank in, watching Sho walking around in my body, and I talking to myself was still weird. It felt like looking at yourself from outside yourself, your body doesn’t belong to you, which is technically true here. The more I thought of it, the scarier I felt and it made me shivered. Trying not to fall any deeper in the thought, I focused back on the paper in front of me.

“Kick off meeting....final pre-aired meeting....postmortem meeting....” I mumbled to myself, feeling more and more uneasy about this already.

Sho, who knows me too well, immediately realized what's on my mind. "You don't have to say much during the meetings. I have already turned in my ichimen topic for this week. In fact I'm almost done writing the scripts. All you need is to read through the scripts and check your timing to make sure you finish on time. I usually have about 5 minutes, but definitely no longer than 6."

"Al -- right. That's easy for you to say." I'm getting really nervous and Sho could see right through me.

Sho laughed. "You're not a bit nervous when you're in the spotlight in front of 70,000 fans in Kokuritsu. But now you're nervous in front of just a few people and cameras."

"Don't tease me, OK?" I was a little annoyed. "It's your news caster reputation on the line here. You don't want to be fired tomorrow, do you?"

"I'm sorry, Satoshi. Just don't think too much about it. Follow the flow and you'll be fine." Sho moved closer to me, but pulled back before our lips touched.

“What is it?”

“Sorry, I – couldn’t. I felt like I was about to – kiss myself.”

He was right. No wonder I wanted to resist when he was closing in to me.

"But, Satoshi, now I understand why you always like to tease me and make me panic. I never knew my panicky look is that cute." We both burst into laughter. Sho always knows the right things to say to loosen my agitations. Although I was not totally at ease, I felt like I can do it. This is, after all, what I've always wanted to do and what I wished for, isn't it?

"Oh, I forgot to tell you. Before the usual News Zero events for the day, I, you have to go and do a special interview, which will be aired next week." Sho looked through a stack of papers in his folder. "You'll be interviewing Kusama Yayoi-san."

"Ehh?!" I couldn't believe it. Kusama-san is one of my favorite artists. I had seen her art work many times and really admired them. Just recently when I went to visit museums in New York I saw introductions about her there. And now I have the opportunity to interview her in person, I instantly got all excited.

"Are you serious, Sho? I can really interview Kusama-san?" I asked anxiously and Sho nodded. "Wow, that's amazing. I've been wanting to meet her for a long time."

"You know, Satoshi. This actually works out perfectly. You're a much better person to interview her than me. Your knowledge and interest in art really come in handy here."

For the first time since I became Sakurai-caster, I really looked forward to the day.

"Satoshi, what work do you have today? You haven't told me yet." Sho said while he packed up all the papers and his laptop for me to bring to work. He had been checking emails and browsing the internet while we were talking. Keeping up to date on news and information is really part of a news caster’s job.

"Oh, I have a photo shoot today for a magazine. They want to take some pictures of me and Kagi."

"No! No Way! Tell them to change it. I'm not doing it. I can't do it. Call them, postpone it -- Oh, I'm dead." Sho sat down looked seriously dreadful . I used all my strength to hold back my laughter. Seeing that I didn't say a word, Sho knew I was joking and gave me a smack. "Baka!"

I couldn't hold back any longer and laughed out loud. "Sorry, I have to see how I look when I am panic. But it's not even close to how cute you are." After I calmed down a bit, I told Sho about my real work for the day, the choreography sessions with the juniors. He wanted to ask me more questions about it, but it's getting late and we had to get ready. Our managers would be here to pick us up soon.

Getting ready for work had never been so challenging for us. Starting from brushing our teeth to picking our clothes.

"Satoshi, don't use your own tooth brush. You're in my body now, you have to use mine."

"Here, use some hair gel to comb your bangs up, Sho. I look weird with my bangs down."

"Don't mess up the clothes in my drawer. Just take the top one."

"But I want to wear the sweater that I bought for you from New York. Where did you put it? "

When we're finally ready, our managers were already waiting for us outside our apartment.

"Wish me luck, Sho."

"Same here, Satoshi."

"Oh, we took each other's phone. Quick, exchange back."

Adventures, here we come!

"Good morning, Sakurai-kun. Why are you getting on this car? Your ride is right behind."

Oops, first mistake already. Just hope things wouldn't be too bad the rest of the day.

When we arrived at Kusama-san's art studio, I could feel my heart beating faster and faster. The art pieces around me are all so interesting. I wanted to look closely at every one of them, but the staff reminded me we had to get the interview going.

“It was an honor to meet you Kusama-san. I am Ohno Satoshi – ” I naturally introduced myself as Ohno without thinking. My mind was already on the upcoming conversation with the famous artist.

“Eh? Sakurai-san?”

The staff’s question made me realized I am Sakurai Sho now. Second mistake.

I immediately corrected myself as calmly as I can, saying that I was too excited to meet her that I even forgot my own name. She laughed at my humor, which actually loosened up my anxieties.

The interview went on really well. Since it’s in my topic of interest, I could quickly bring the conversation into the subject. Gosh, what Kusama-san talked about was really inspiring. I wish I could talk to her more, but again, I was reminded by the staff that it’s time to wrap things up. The visit was very informative, both for News Zero and for myself.

Sho: How did the interview go?

Me: It was great! I wish it could be longer. How is your day so far?

Sho: Just had lunch. Will meet up with the juniors soon. Your manager brought me curry without even asking.

Me: And your manager handed me two newspapers first thing after I got into the car. I don’t need to read them all before News Zero, do I?

I managed to exchange a few mails with Sho on our way back to the NTV studio. I wasn’t as anxious as earlier in the morning after the interview. It was not as bad as I thought and I was starting to enjoy it. But may be I had spoken too soon…

“Satoshi!” Sho greeted me at the genkan area as soon as I entered the apartment door later in the night. “I watched the whole show tonight. You were incredible.”

I was so tired, more mentally than physically, worse than any overnight drama shooting or concert performances. I just went into the living room and allowed myself to fall onto the couch. “I hope NTV won’t fire you tomorrow.” I said with my eyes closed.

“Why? From what I saw, you did everything great tonight.” Sho pushed me closer to the back of the couch and lied down next to me, our hands and feet tangled together. “Tell me, how did the day go for you?”

I told Sho about getting into the wrong car to start the day and how I introduced myself as Ohno during the interview with Kusama-san.

“You did? Ha ha – I’m glad she took your humor well.”

I nodded. “The interview was so interesting. I wish I had more time with her. Kusama-san was surprised that I knew so much about her and her artwork. I told her I did my homework.” I was quite proud of myself. “I took some pictures with my phone on some of her work. They’re fascinating. Wanna see?” I took out my phone and showed Sho.

“No thanks. Those packed polka dots  kind of annoyed me.” Sho turned away avoiding the picture on my phone. “I am glad you did the interview for me, so I don’t have to be looking at those all morning long.”

I was a little surprised. “You’re trypophobic too? How many phobias do you have?”

Sho kept silent and I regretted jeering at him. “Never mind. I just wanted to see my own pouting face. Anyway, after we’re back at the studio, the producer asked me to do the editing for the interview, chopping an hour long interview into ten minutes. Gosh, Sho, do you have to do that for all the interviews you did?”

“Pretty much so. Since I am the interviewer, I have to determine which parts are worth airing and what footage to show. I spend a lot of time with the editing technician on that.”

“This was harder than the interview itself, I’m telling you.” I sighed. “Be sure review that part next week before it airs.”

Sho smiled. “OK, but I’m sure you did a good job on it. What happened during the kick-off meetings and pre-aired meeting? Did you – fall asleep?”

I stuck my tongue out and scratched the back of my head. “Gomen, I just couldn’t help it, but I tried my best not to make it too obvious. I hope Murao-san and the producer didn’t notice. I think I responded every time they inquired me.”

“Don’t worry. They understand I, we, have busy schedules. It’s OK to show signs of tiredness once in a while. Did you read the scripts of the ichimen alright? I hope what I wrote was not too difficult to understand.” Sho tugged closer to me.

“What you wrote was great! I understand fully after just reading a couple of times. Well, probably because the deep sea spacecraft topic was related to sea. It took me a while to time my talking speed to fit the presentation into the time slot, but then the producer asked me to shorten the segment by one minute because of some breaking news, just fifteen minutes before going on-air. That really killed me.”

“Oh no!” Sho sat up and looked at me. “It did happen sometimes.”

“I was so sure that I would screw things up, but I still had to do it somehow. So – ” I shrugged.

“It went very well, as far as I can tell. Other than a few glitches here and there, it’s almost flawless. And I could tell the glitches only because I wrote the scripts. I bet others wouldn’t notice at all.”

I know Sho just said so to make me feel better, but I’d take that as a compliment. “I’m glad I watch your News Zero every week, so I pretty much know how you gesture when listening to Murao-san making comments, even how you move your chair when you leave or go back to your seat.”

Sho laughed at this remark. “I didn’t know you pay attention to such details of me. But I almost thought that I was watching a recorded episode if I didn’t know better.”

“Enough of my adventure. How about your day? How did the choreography sessions go?” I wanted to change the subject away from my day of anxiety. I was sure Sho could handle the juniors fine, but still curious about what happened nevertheless.

“Satoshi, I always thought you’re the easy going one and I am the strict one as far as discipline is concerned, but I am totally wrong.”

“What do you mean?” I tilted my head in confusion.

“When I told the juniors that I was happy with their dances and they could go home, they were so surprised and said I must be in a good mood today.” Sho smirked. “You must be a harsh teacher.”

“Ha ha, I supposed you can say that. When it comes to dancing, you can’t just dance 80% or 90%, you have to give 100% or it won’t be good.”

“I’m impressed, and thank you for saving me when I forgot the few steps. I’m glad my mail caught you before you went into meeting, or else I’ll really disgrace your teacher’s image.” Sho said apologetically. “Really, I can understand how much energy you put in to create those choreographies for our concerts and teaching the juniors.”

“Same here. I can appreciate your news casting work even more after today. Let’s go to bed, Sho. It’s been a long day and I’m exhausted.”

“Oh, Satoshi, can you do one more thing for me first since you’re in my body?”

“Sure, what is it?”

We lied in bed together but neither of us said anything. I think both of us were thinking the same thing – what would happen the next morning when we woke up?

“Sho, what happen if we don’t change back?” I broke the silence and asked.

“Then Ohno Satoshi will be acrophobic and trypophobic, not Sakurai Sho.”

I smacked Sho’s head. “That’s not funny. Seriously, what if we’re stuck in each other’s body forever?” I was really starting to worry.

“It will still be the two of us, Ohno Satoshi and Sakurai Sho, being together. It will still be us loving each other. That won’t change. That’s all that matters. We can get through anything as long as we’re together.” Sho moved closer to me. As always, what he said made me feel so much at ease.

I started kissing the man in my arms and he kissed back. Darkness in the room made us forgot our souls and bodies were out of place. Our affection and love remained. Ohno Satoshi and Sakurai Sho are together, that’s all that matters.

When I opened my eyes the next morning, I stared at the ceiling didn’t dare to turn and look at the man next to me. Would I still see my own face? Was it all a dream? I was scared to find out.

“Satoshi, we changed back!”

My thought were interrupted by Sho’s yell. I quickly turned my head and saw Sho right next to me. We are back to our own bodies.

“Oh Sho, so glad to see you again. You’re more handsome than ever.” I hugged him tight and kissed him over and over again. “Let’s get up and shower. I’ll show you that I took good care of your body.”

“Oh – ” I felt the same soreness in my lower body like I did yesterday. I wonder what was the reason. “May be it’s time we get a new bed. I kept having soreness below my waist.”

Sho became bashful instantly. “There’s nothing wrong with our bed. What you feel is normal. I feel this way all the time after we – exercise.”

“But – how – oh – ” I understood then. “You – topped me – last night?”

“Well, technically it’s still you topping me, mentally at least. But it is amazing not to have the soreness in the morning for a change.” Sho gave a bratty look. “Now I know what birthday wish I’ll make.”

“No way!!!”

Later when we met up with the kaze trio in the green room for our regular television shows shooting, the first thing I did was to show a video on my phone to them which surprised them all.

“Sho-san, since when did you succeed in doing back flips?”

// The End

So much awesomeness. So much. It felt plausible, somehow... the way the timing and events took place :D

It was cute and funny; yet still realistic.

The way they poke fun at each other too, there's so many adorable moments throughout.

The last part totally killed me. Exercise. I dont think I can look at the word the same way again.

Thank you so much for sharing these gems <3 *hugs*

This was such a joy to read! Sho and Satoshi exchanging bodies for a day and being able to do the stuffs they envy about each other. Plus, the humor in it really put a smile on my face, and the way they supported each other along with this line, "It will still be the two of us, Ohno Satoshi and Sakurai Sho, being together." really warmed my heart. Thank you so much for sharing this!

That ending is truly epic, lol! I'd love to see that myself! ♥
