Chapter 10

It is January again, the bitter cold month of the year. It’s exactly one year since they met in New York and started their short lasting time together. Though short, it's the happiness that Sho will never forget.

Sho doesn’t know how long he has been driving. He only knows he has to stop because his car is running out of gas.

After the car stopped, he sat there with his eyes closed, tears are still running down his face. He feels his heart is being stabbed, hard and brutal. The heart which he and Ohno had lovingly formed has been shattered into thousands of pieces. Leaving Ohno is hard enough, but what hurts the most is that he has to be the one who ended it, and do it is such a heartless way. He couldn't even kiss Ohno goodbye.

What a birthday he had?!

Saying such harsh words to hurt Ohno is the most painful thing he has ever done, but that's the only way that will make Ohno forget about him. Satoshi will never forgive me. He may be hurt now but he will recover and can get married without any worries or guilt. It's all for the best.

What about you, Sho? How would you recover?

Sho buried himself in work hoping to be too tired to think about the love of his life. But no matter how hard he tried, Ohno’s image somehow still invades into his mind, and he can’t help thinking the summer wedding date is getting closer and closer.

Satoshi, forget about me. I truly wish for your happiness with Hiroko.

Sometimes he would resent how cruel his fate has been playing him. Letting him reunite with his long lost love, but then take it away from him in the most brutal way, leaving him with a broken heart that can never be mended.

“Sakurai-kun, we are going for a drink after work, want to join us?” Jun Matsumoto, a co-worker of Sho’s, said to Sho a short while before their work day ends.

Jun was a junior of Sho. He joined the news agency just last year. He is smart and hard working and his boss was quite pleased with many of his new ideas. He is a handsome looking guy, a couple of years younger than Sho with a slim tall build. Many female co-workers are falling for Jun, but he has no interest in them. His attraction is on Sho, other co-workers had caught that too, it’s that obvious. He never really tried to hide it anyway. But Sho was happily together with Ohno and didn’t pay much attention to Jun.

Nobody at work knows about Sho’s relationship with Ohno. They could only guess that Sho was in love with someone. His sweet smiles when reading text messages, his talking on the phone in private, his taking time off every now and then already tells the whole story. Sho felt it’s not the time to go public yet, not because he’s in love with a guy, but because Ohno is engaged to another person. Not until he is free from this commitment, it is not fair for everyone involved to create unnecessary aggravation.

Jun noticed the sudden change in Sho’s mood also. Before Sho left for the weekend, he was on top of the world, but when he came back to work after calling in sick the following Monday, he was like he just came back from hell. He didn’t receive anymore smile intriguing text messages, nor he had anymore private phone conversations. No one dare to ask, but everyone could guess what it is all about.

Sho didn’t really want to go to any social gatherings, but he knows that being alone at home will just arouse more memories, and he truly needs a drink.

“Sure” Sho gives a simple answer, but it already made Jun very happy.

Sho is sitting at the bar with his co-workers. He is pretty much drinking alone as he didn’t pay attention or participate in any of their conversations. What he doesn’t know is that Jun has been glancing him all this time.

After several drinks, Jun moved to the seat next to Sho.

“Want to talk about it?” Jun knows Sho won’t say what’s bothering him, he just wants to start a conversation.

Sho turned his head to see who's talking to him. Then he turned back to look at his glass again and shook his head. “There’s nothing to talk about.”

“Broke up with your girlfriend?” Jun goes straight to the point, and he knew he guessed right from Sho’s reaction.

“You will get over it. I don’t even remember how many times I got dumped” He tried to comfort his senior, and get closer to him putting his arm around the sloping shoulder.

Sho feels uneasy with his gesture but still let him. Seeing that Sho doesn't resist, he moved closer.

“It's her lost.” Jun said softly.

“Huh?” Sho doen't get what Jun meant right away, because the “her” doesn't really ring a bell to him.

“It's her lost to dump a nice guy like you.” Jun explained. There is a deeper meaning to this sentence that Sho could understand.

Sho gives out a bitter smile. He knows Jun meant well, but he is not in the mood of talking, especially not about his broken relationship.

They don't speak much afterwards. Jun is happy just to sit next to Sho. He feels he's getting closer to him. He has a chance.

“I don't think you should be driving. Let me take you home.” Jun offered.

Sho does indeed feel a little light headed after so many drinks, so he nodded.

Although Jun wanted more than being a friend to Sho, he seemed to think it was a good start for them tonight.

I'm sorry I didn't review last chapter, but just as a combined review, Yama's broke-up was so tragic!! I felt especially sad for Sho because he's forcing himself to push away.

Omg it's Jun! Not gonna lie I like dat pairing too xD but in this story I feel too much for Yama, especially how long they've waited for each other since forever. But I can also feel in here how Jun adores Sho. LOL how coincidential Jun's recent AnAn's on one-sided love!

Thanks for update.
